A little cooler weather at last and a few showers, it is not touching the river levels at the minute but it is dropping the water temperature slightly enough to keep the trout fishing good and one or two salmon to have a go. There are certainly salmon and grilse coming in now off every tide and being seen on a regular basis, just need a slight lift of water to get them up the middle beats.
I had Michael and young George of eight join me on the lower Eden last week, they had never fly fished before.
Both did a great job of the casting, we did a kick sample, a bit of wading and then got on with the fishing.
Fishing a small nymph there were plenty of willing takers. Father Michael playing his first fish of the day, he needs a ghillie!
Here George comes with the net and generous sized waders!
A fine job George, wanna job?
