River Eden, August 10th 2015.

David, predominately a still water fisher, joined me today on the lower Eden for his first day fishing a river. To begin with we did a fair bit on the roll and overhead and casting that little bit farther, followed by some Spey casting techniques.

a1The morning started with a gentle downstream wind and we put the double Spey to the test with a couple of wets on, the first fish was a small sea trout.

1It was not long before David was attached to his first brown trout.

2It was a great chill-out for David in his busy life.

3We were just soaking up the ambiance and fine weather when the wind swung around upstream and it went into stair rod mode!

4It all went quiet for a while after that, we worked on the Circle cast and it was back into the thick of it.

5A fine grayling to round the day off, well done David and thank you for being such good company!
