Rods available to let on the lower Eden 2012

The fishings are located at Grinsdale and Beaumont just downstream of Carlisle Map

They are run by Wallets Rural Property Services and consist of around two miles of varied fishing and named pools on the left bank opposite the Cargo fishings.

There are two beats which are rotated on odds and evens days, there are four rods per beat which are let on the basis that you buy a day for the whole salmon season.

January 15th to October 14th

Price per rod - £450

Rod lets for 2012.

Monday - 3 rods

Thursday - 2 rods

These lower Eden beats have the cream of the early spring fishing and from two to three miles from the Solway estuary, the river is here influenced by the tide on anything over eight meters and a tide book is recommended.

All fish caught before June 16th have to be returned, after that date there is a two fish limit.

The summer fishing can be exceptional in low water with runs of very large fish early in June entering the river along with sea trout.

The grilse run starts around late July followed by the autumn run in August and September. From September 10th all hen fish are required to be returned unharmed to the river.

Given the right water conditions the fishing can be outstanding.

The brown trout and grayling fishing is excellent along with very good sea trout fishing in the summer.

The beats are well maintained, there is good access and the majority of wading is easy.
