Darren and Justin from Cheltenham are up for the week fishing and joined me on the river at Lazonby for the day. Quite low water conditions for the middle river, but at least in the morning there was a little cloud cover and the odd fish showing.

River Eden, May 17th, 2017.

We have been seeing numbers of fish for the last two weeks. A one foot rise of fairly clear water after some rainfall has at last got the salmon on the move and in the taking mood.

Even though we are experiencing almost drought conditions, the salmon are beginning to arrive in now from the estuary. We have been seeing fish the last week or so moving through the pools along with some good sea trout.
